Discard chocolate chip cookies

Wife and I started to make our very first bread today, and decided to use the discard for some cookies. Found a recipe online and came out like this. They taste ok, but to me don’t look like normal cookies. How much does altitude affect the look or bake time? I believe we did 13 minutes at 350.
