Was Pastel Spider on TikTok offensive for you?
Saw on TikTok a Spidersona made by a TikTok user. They created Pastel Spider, a female Spider-Man who people reaction was to make fun of the character for being fat. The situation got so bad, the user left the platform.
I wondered if people knew about the situation and what they think of it.
Personally, I think this was a joke that went way too far. I don't think teasing is bad, but when a group of people starts fun of of someone being fat, that's when you crossed the line. Yes, I know this is a fictional character, but seeing so many people focusing on that aspect alone still made it conserving for me. Not to mention the artist who made it only saw that complain over and over again.
And people complained about how realistic this is. Honestly, for fan made content, I think that's not worth it geting so invested in the detail that the character is fat alone. But even then, "the webs wouldn't hold her" doesn't make sense since... you guys know how stong a spider web actually is? Like, a web string of the average thickness of a pen would not have a problem holding someone who is heavier than it should. And I've seen fat people being able to fight and being able to pull of athletic moves. I'm not saying that it wouldn't be in disadvantage compared with more fit Spider-People, but not incapable.
Also... there are fat Spider-People in Across the Spider-Verse... Why is her a problem... And a T-Rex with arms so small it would cary his weight... Again... Why she is a problem...
