Panning and watering can

It gets to iridium pan, it takes, what 20k to unlock, 42k 5 iron bars, 5 gold bars, 5 iridium To get to can, same thing minus initial 20k of unlocking.

That seems excessive for what I'd think I'd get back from it. Those that go all the way with upgrading the pan, is it worth it? For those that upgrade the can, how long do you go not just using sprinklers, weighing just getting the sprinklers versus upgrading can time and effort.
