Has anyone been successful in running a fully remote startup?

I'm currently working in a full time remote job for an US based company. I'm currently residing in Bangalore. My friend and I have decided to do some rapid prototyping of ideas ( I don't know if that's the right first step) to get an idea of the amount time we can commit to starting up and to get a grip on how things will be once we prepare ourselves and go all in.

Given that my job is fully remote, I'm considering moving back to my hometown ( tier 2 city in TN) and continue to do my job as well as work on startup ideas from there. So that I can be close to my parents too.

Personal considerations:

Right now we don't have any kids and even if we do, our city has good schools and that shouldn't be a problem. Things I might miss are the diversity and the hustle. I really like to come across and interact with a lot of different kinds of people from different walks of life and from different regions. I will also miss the hustle culture, where everyone around me is trying to make something good and successful out of their lives. I might be able to come to Bangalore a couple of times a month just to socialize.

Professional considerations:

How would hiring remote work? How has your personal experience been with it? Will I miss anything else by not being in Bangalore? How will funding work if we're not in a tier 1 city, if and when we decide to approach people for funding?

Thanks in advance.
