$11,000 to replace my MT-07? What should I get?

I've been riding for 5 years, I have a Mt-07 and DRZ400SM. It's been nice but I'm not enjoying the MT-07 anymore and I barley ride my drz400sm. (I rode my buddies Honda 1000rr and it was insanely fun. Did not like the sport bike seating posture)
Reasons why my MT-07 isn't cutting it anymore:
- I don't want to use it on the highway. I go to my moms house on the weekends which is roughly 45 mins drive. I'd rather take my car than my bike which is a let down. Anything longer than an hour isn't comfortable being wind or the "ok enough" seat.
- It's not great with passengers. Took a girl on a date who must weighed around 145 pounds and it felt like I lost 30% of my power. Additionally, she slide forward often, pushing me (and my groin) into the gas tank. We had to adjust/shuffle around every red light.
- It's not that fast? It's nice to have the power. Fun for solo, and more practical for a 2nd rider.
I was thinking on getting a sports touring bike in the 1000cc category. The seem to have enough power for fun and built with comfort in mine. Is this a type of bike I should consider?
The Honda NT1100 looks perfect to me but unfortunately its only sold to police departments.
