Blown Stock Controller

I have just bought a battery and motor but got a controller with it for free as it is ‘blown up’. The guy I bought it off said it’s a blown capacitor and an easy cheap fix. I am just struggling to take the controller apart in the first place. Has anyone ever fixed a blown or fried stock controller, if so please leave info on what to do. I bought a full stock drive train. Any info will help, thanks
