A story of an Indian man

There’s a bhaiya who works at my home from 7-9 PM. He is also a bus conductor, and after finishing his first job, he comes to my house to do gardening and other chores.

One day, he told me about his daily routine. In the morning, before leaving for work, he washes his clothes along with those of his two children. Then he prepares sabzi and goes to school. In the afternoon, he gets a one-hour break, during which he comes home to eat lunch—his wife makes chapati, After that, he goes back to school, and once his work there is done, he comes straight to my house for his part-time job from 7-9 PM.

After reaching his home at night, he irons his clothes and his children’s clothes, washes all the dishes, and prepares the meal. The only thing his wife does is make chapati. He is around 39 years old and works nearly 20 hours a day with barely any rest.

I support the idea of Nari Shakti (Women Empowerment), but is this really what empowerment should look like? I asked him if he was okay with this, and he said yes. I didn’t say anything more, but personally, I don’t think this is the right way to achieve gender equality.( btw his wife is housewife so no job)

What do you guys think?

edit: His kids are studying in the same school where he is a conductor. They are now 9 and 12 years old
