the current system we use of terms like Lesbian, Gay and Transgender aren't optimised for an accepting environment, and the current discourse about the definitions of gender and sex could be solved by implementing a new system
The term "gay" usually refers to a homosexual man. The term "lesbain refers to a homosexual woman. And we invented a whole host of terms for the various different combinations if gender and sexual/romantic attraction. But rather than having this load of cumbersome words that all need to ft into the acronyme, whi don't we just split it into multiple terms?
Instead of using "gay man", why not say "man, androphile"*
, and instead of lesbian, just use "woman, gynephile".
This could also work for transgender people, so if you expand it to three terms, one for gender, one for sex and one for sexuality, a straight transwoman could be "woman, AMAB, androphile", and for nonbinary people you could use a term nonbinary(specifics) so an example would be " nonbinary(agender), AFAB, bisexual"
I think what this could do is eliminiate a lot of uneasiness around certain terms. For example, many people dislike the term cisgender, because "cis" has been used and can be interpreted as an offensive slur, but simply "male, man, attracted to women" is a more technical-like term that is far less likely to become a slur.
Additionally it would be easier to get a clear solution to issues like transgender people and restrooms. You could have a law that goes
if person(gender) == "woman":
may_use_womens_restroom.append(person)
or have a law that goes
if person(sex) == "AFAB":
may_use_womens_restroom.append(person)
without making a big fuss over what terms mean what
I don't expect people to use these in casual conversation because it's longer than the pre-established system, but it would make a better system if you could make being LGBTQ+ a legal identity( so having tags in your database like age)

I don't know of any words meaning attracted to men/ attracted to women, because people just use
if you have any issues with this, any small things that could be tweaked, or any points on which you'd like me to elaborate on or clarify what i mean, feel free to ask,
Edit: switched "attracted to men" to "androphile" and "attracted to women" to "gynephile". Also switched "male" to "AMAB" and "female" to "AFAB", and changed the order of the terms to better reflect the relative importance of gender, sex, and sexuality I would also like to point out that I never expect for this to be used, and if using it would be ethical in the current political climate, this is mostly a thought experiment by me to work out what would be the most accurate way of showing and organising everyone's identities fairly
