Why can’t we have conversations

I’m getting fed up with all the negativity around trying to have conversations about different opinions. I just posted yesterday asking why people ranked Give me Mercy so low and immediately was filled with people saying that just cause my taste is different blah blah. But I wasn’t hating or shitting on anybody’s taste I simply asked a question.. then that same person says we should censor any kind of posts that spark conversation… isn’t that what Reddit is for? Aren’t we supposed to get together and communicate respectfully and have opinionated conversations? Idk if you don’t like the content get off the page imo
