Tariffs coming? Also “tax break” for trade-in

Update: I think the tariff thing was an exaggeration to discourage me from canceling my reservation to try for a better deal with a later delivery somewhere else.

I stopped by the dealership today to meet my salesman in person and eyeball a Sienna on the lot just to feel good about what I'm getting. My Sienna is coming in the next week.

He told me that tariffs are going to hit cars (arriving in the US) starting on April 2.

He also told me if I traded in my 2017 RAV4 hybrid to the dealer I would get some kind of tax credit that I wouldn't get if I sold it to CarShop (local used car chain in the Philly area like Carmax).

Can anybody confirm either of these statements?
