Possibly getting fired from my tutoring company. Feeling sad.
For the past month, I've been working part-time at a tutoring company for a few hours a week. I decided to do my own private tutoring on the side to make some more income. My boss's assistant called to tell me that if I chose to pursue my own tutoring business, they'd have to let me go. In the past they've had employees steal clients from them and so if they kept me, it would be a conflict of interest. It's sort of up to me at this point, whether I wanna do my own thing or stick with them. I never had the intention of stealing clients from them, I even referred several clients to them. While I get where they're coming from as a business, it does feel shitty.
Update: I apologized to my boss for the conflict of interest and said I would be quitting to pursue my own thing. She changed her mind and said I could stay because she didn't want to have to hire a new tutor. Now I'm wondering what the fuss about possibly firing me was about. I think they just hoped that I would quit my own business, which puts a sour taste in my mouth. But I guess it's sort of good news.
