Wiper linkage?
So I recently bought a 1993 car. For those who've seen my previous post here, I mentioned that my wipers quit midway on the drive back to Hamilton from Barrie.
I had a few ideas. Maybe it's fuse #2 since the horn also doesn't work. Maybe it's a dead wiper relay, both of which I ordered replacements on IPD already. Could also be a bad ground somewhere and I really hoped it wasn't some bad wiring or cooked linkage somewhere deep inside the dashboard.
I took it to a shop yesterday and let them diagnose it, and they called me back earlier in the morning today. I told them everything I know when I brought it there, and they told me that part of the wiper transmission/linkage (same thing?) seized up, specifically the pivots where the wipers rotate about. The main problem is they can't find the parts anymore, as this specific part has been out of production for a while now. So since the linkage seized, the motor also kind of burnt itself out because it had to work extra hard to move the wipers (which didn't move). And they'll also have to rewire everything related because me and the seller bypassed a lot of the wiring in our jerry-rigged fix, which was supposed to be temporary.
So now I'm looking for a wiper linkage around partout listings, since I can't find a new one online. Any ideas? I've already contacted a few 240 partout listings in the Greater Toronto Area. I won't mind taking apart the dashboard to get to the linkage, as long as I'm allowed to. As far as I understand the linkage from 1986 cars onwards should work on my car, right? Thanks for the help guys.
