Quitting warframe and here’s why.

Nobody’s gonna take kindly to this post. That’s okay, I understand. Feel free to blast me in the comments. I feel it’s important to say what the biggest problems in this game are.

I wanted SOOO badly to love this game. This game is truly a AAA game that had years and many dollars put into it, and hours of thought and writing. The base mechanics are soooo addictive, and I love the shooting, looting, moving, weapons modding, character modding, and learning more and more about the story. The DEEP and RICH story that this game has is just breathtaking, and all the characters are lovable, especially the warframes.

Aaaand that’s about where the good news ends with this game…

This game has SO many great elements, that’s it’s hard to say that the problems completely overwhelm them, but the problems are big and many.

  • THE GRIND: I don’t mind grinding in video games. Believe me, I don’t. I really like grinding in fact, as long as it’s worth it. But the things you have to grind for without knowing their purpose or wanting them beforehand (the voidrig, the archwing, the railjack) are frankly ridiculous. Why would I want the voidrig if I didn’t know it was required to advance the story? Why would I want the railjack? I STILL don’t know what it even is after finishing its construction! The problem isn’t the grind, it’s the pointlessness of the grind. The voidrig only requires the RAREST items from Deimos, and their drop rate is terrible.

  • THE POWER GAP: At some point in this game, you will always reach a power gap. The game’s poor explanation of the MANY mechanics (more on that later) ends up catching up with you at some point. The game pushes you to rush through and unlock all the planets, whether for story or void fissures, but somewhere somehow you will reach a power inequality that makes progression impossible. For me personally, it was when I got to Neptune and I never learned how to upgrade mods. For weapons, warframes, anything. I was humiliated.

  • TOO MANY MECHANICS: this game has WAY too many mechanics. You have a Tenno skill tree, you have void relics and prime items, you have to synthesize targets, you have syndicates, you have the nightwave, and what is it all for? Why not just omit one or two mechanics, and just see if the game is just as good? The game is convoluted. And get this, new players will never know that there is actually a website for doing business and getting free platinum… because nowhere in the game does it say that. What a joke.

  • THE CRAP CRAFTING: okay, so maybe this isn’t the worst crafting system I’ve ever seen in a game, but it leaves much to be desired. The reason everything takes so long to craft is so that you can do other stuff in the meantime, I get it. But maybe DE could’ve lowered the crafting process duration by like… 1 day? Just one day? How much would we really be missing out on if they did that? I spent days trying to get the items, so what’s the point of making me wait several more?

  • THE WAVERIDER QUEST: I don’t HAVE to say anything here… I’ve said plenty about this before. But this quest is so bad, it definitely deserves its own section here.

  • THE EXTORTION: this is, in my opinion the worst part of the game. This isn’t a pay to play game in the same way that Destiny 2 is a pay to play game, or that most shitty mobile games are pay to play games. I acknowledge that. But this game has a horrible pay to play aspect to it. It’s the slots. You need weapon slots to get weapons at all. THIS GAME DISCOURAGES YOU FROM GETTING ALL THE WEAPONS AND GETTING GOOD AT THEM! Where’s the logic in that? And warframes are no different. Why make so many amazing warframes and then discourage me from playing them?

Now I know what you’re thinking, “Oh Savage, if you need slots, just get slots. It’s not that complicated.” How do you get slots? With platinum… the game’s IRL currency. Don’t limit me, DE! I WANT to play all these characters, I want to get good at them! I love these characters and how cool they are!

Overall, the game is so amazing and has so many fun elements in it, but the problems drown the greatness out. I know there’s ways around all of these problems, but eventually, these problems become overwhelming and the game is no longer fun. I’m quitting the game and giving out all of my ayatan sculptures and prime parts and relics for free if anyone wants them. Thanks for the fun ride, DE, but this is a game for patient people, which regrettably, I am not.
