Robert Jordan vs Brandon Sanderson

I read the books in the 90s and eagerly awaited each new one. Then Robert Jordan died and I was incredibly frustrated with the whole thing. By the time Brandon Sanderson took over I had moved on and never went back to finish the series. I didn't think I was going to either, until the show came out. I'd have to re-read it all from the beginning and that's quite a commitment. So my question is, how did Sanderson do? Does he write like Robert Jordan and seamlessly pick up or is it different? If so, how? I have read Sanderson's Mistborn series and from what I recall it wasn't as engaging as Jordan but that's with a lot of time in between.
*Thanks for all the feedback! Guess I'll be re-reading them.
