Ovarian Cyst Removal
Hi all,
I have seen several posts on here regarding ovarian cysts, surgeries, etc. but most of them date back quite a bit so I was hoping to get some fresh insight!
Next Tuesday I am having a laparoscopic surgery to remove a 5.5cm cyst near my left ovary. We have monitored the cyst for well over a year and it has grown slightly in size and with the help of my gyno, we have decided to just do the removal. The cyst does not cause me any sort of pain or issues, I wouldn't have even know it were there if it were for the original ultrasound. However, the spot that it is located is close to my left tube and my doctor mentioned that if it were to rupture it could also rupture my tube. That was enough for me to make up my mind! That being said, due to the location of the cyst we have also decided to do a tube flush while they are in there as well to check the functioning of my tubes - I am 36 years old and will be trying for a baby at some point this year.
My only experience with surgery/anesthesia is wisdom tooth removal & an endoscopy. To say I am nervous would be understatement. Both about going under and also as to what they may find. My sister went in for a cyst removal surgery about 2 years ago and they ended up finding tons of endometriosis and had to remove one of her ovaries & tubes, so I of course have reservations about what they may find once their in there. I truly don't believe I have endo as I have always had regular periods, not painful, and so on but several posts lend to many being greatly surprised that they had it.
Any insight on experiences, recovery, etc. would be greatly appreciated <3
THANK YOU!
