Why did the movies change her origins?

I know that the whole Zeus as her father thing came from the New-52, but why did they change her fighting in World War Two to World War One? I know that I'm just nitpicking, but if your gonna show Diana in the past, at least get the war right! I hope the new DCU has her begin around the same time as Superman and Batman.
