Oh Miss Lottie…

She’s a tricky one!! What her intentions are, whether good or evil, are unclear to me yet… but I’ve just noticed something. She makes all this effort to “save” Ben due to Akilah’s vision. It seems as though she genuinely wants them to be rescued and go home…. Or at least so she wants us to think. In one of the trailers (I’ve watched so many at this point I can’t remember which one this is from) I’ve written her quote down saying “we can’t go back, we don’t belong there anymore”. Now when I first heard it, I thought she was talking about the cabin or maybe just the way they were living to survive the winter. Now with the upcoming episode summary saying that the Yellowjackets will be “turning on each other” and episode 8 saying the YJs learn that “not everyone may be in a rush to leave”, I’m thinking she plays an integral role in them blowing a shot at rescue. She successfully convinces part, if not all, of the remaining group that this is where they now belong, that they’ve found their “primal selves” and their true calling. I could see this playing into the writers leaning into Shauna’s dark side and I believe she, along with Van and therefore Tai, could easily be persuaded. That may be what ultimately causes the divide into two groups. The ones that genuinely want to get home to civilization, and those that truly believe the wilderness IS their home. This would surely be a crazy way to end the season.
