Help with Frydek!!

I got this varagated Frydek that was in rough shape from a plant store (it was on sale) and desperately needed a repot from the terrible nursery mix which is exactly what I did. It ended up dropping the last leaf which I expected however the stem has continued to wilt away. The base still feels firm. Is there anything I can do to help it? Or is it just a matter of hoping it pulls through?
