Amex Travel isn’t worth using. Also a ripoff.

Let me know your thoughts on this too. But I recently used Amextravel to book hotels in Europe. Yeah it’s nice if you want to use points but if you’re paying actually money I would not recommend using.

1) Amextravel uses Expedia to book your hotels. This shows you in the lowest pool of customers to the hotel that you book. This is also why nearly all of the hotels are non refundable. 2) Because they use Expedia, the hotel will not fully try to help you with accommodations, e.g, different room, upgrades etc. you’re simply the lowest paying customer to them. 3) Using Amextravel is also a ripoff. In the past trip that I had, the hotel cost through Amex was $190 with taxes and fees. The hotel was only given $150. That’s $40 that is still unaccounted for, which I am currently disputing and investigating. 4) Just book your hotel through their website and transfer points if you want to receive the best service, accommodations, upgrades etc, refundable. 5) If you’re going for lowest cost, just use Expedia itself or any other budget website.
