Reenlistment and Mobilization
Hello all, I’m not hearing back from my retention NCOs for the last week+
I’m mobilized currently with an ETS this August. I’m on a list to mobilize to a mission with my home unit shortly after this one ends. I need to reenlist for 2 years minimum in order to remain on the mission which I want to do. But 68W has no bonus! I was looking at the list my Retention NCO showed me a while ago and saw there are other MOS with good bonuses. I saw that civil affairs had some bonuses and the job sounds pretty awesome, been talking with a bunch of current and prior Civil Affairs guys and they say I should 110% give it a try.
Do you think I would be able to reenlist for another MOS that is outside of my current CMF and into another unit while remaining on the upcoming mission as a 68W? I’ll sure there might have to be some acceptance on the part of the gaining unit commander. I probably wouldn’t be able to go to school for reclass until after the mobilization is done almost a year after I am set to ETS.
To explain myself, I really want the bonus right now, pay as a married mobilized reservist E5 is so much better than what I made as an LVN civilian side. I have family needs that are keeping me rooted in my home city for at least a couple more years. I do plan to join active duty asap after the family is set and able to come with me.
