Compared to other POE games?

I have no pillars of eternity experience, I didn’t know avowed was even part of an older franchise tbh. So for the POE veterans how does avowed hold up to the older games? I know they’re fundamentally different, avowed being 1st person but I’m just curious what you guys have to say.
