Can I transfer a save file between two Androids?

If my game is connected to Google Play Games, can I delete the app and then redownload on this or another device with the same Google account and maintain my progress?

Forgive me if this has been answered before, I searched but only found people asking about transferring between mobile and Steam. Thanks!
