Breastfeeding for 3 months
Hey everyone! I just gave birth exactly a week ago to my amazing son. I had a failed induction that resulted in a c section. He was whisked away to NICU right after because he was having difficulty breathing. They asked if he was allowed formula to which I replied yes. The last thing I would want is for him to starve.
Because of this he never latched. I’ve tried a few times but I’m not too concerned about it. Instead of feeling like a failure I’ve been continuing to pump and give him my milk in bottles along with formula when we need to.
I only intend to breast feed for 3 months. I have to go back to work in three months and cannot imagine pumping milk every two hours while at my job. If anyone here has pumped or breastfed their child for three months and then tapered off to formula, Was it okay? I feel like I’m robbing my son of nutrients and benefits by not trying to go for 6 months. But I really just don’t think I have it in me.
The amount of times I have to sterilize all the bottles and equipment is exhausting. I kind of can’t believe I have another 3 months to go of doing this. Any advice is appreciated. Would love to hear from people who breastfed for three months and that their kid tuned out fine.
