Does anybody else get tired of the men vs women rhetoric?
Before I say what I’m about to say, I’m entirely aware of the historical, social, political, and cultural implications of why we have such a common discourse about women and men.
But sis…
I’m drained. While I have my opinions and arguments about misogyny, patriarchy and all that, I’ve slowly departed from this discussion on social media. I think for one it’s to do with the fact that I am in a loving relationship with a man, and also the fact that I don’t feel the need to constantly consume it. This is especially since social media can twist and exaggerate real life. Whenever I see these videos I watch it, form an opinion, maybe comment, and then move on. I used to argue with men and women for fucking hours and drive myself nuts over it. It also made me see the absolute worst in society. It definitely affected my mental and I don’t think it’s healthy to be so involved. Things like SheraSeven (sprinkle sprinkle) and Drew Afualo…I just don’t see the need anymore. I know the implications but I don’t think I need to feed it to my brain every day.
Am I the only one?
