10 Things (Almost) All Black Men Agree On
Since this is a subreddit for Black men, I want to see in sync we are since we don't know each other. I feel like there's a shorthand among certain demographics where it doesn't matter if we know each other or we're from the same place, it's just cultural osmosis. I'll start with ten...there are probably more but I want to see how many I get right.
If you call us, don't ask "where you at?" That sounds like a setup. Just tell me what you want.
No disrespect to the LGBTQ community, but we ain't with the gay jokes. Not because we're not comfortable in our masculinity because most of us play PAUSE, but because we ain't trying to laugh too much and have folks thinking the wrong way about us.
Ma Dukes? Off-limits. Even if we are not seeing eye-to-eye, even if we ain't on speaking terms, that's not the time for anybody else to enter the chat and offer their two cents. And as an aside: to the ladies, how I feel about my mom isn't necessarily going to translate to you. There's the relationship with you have with your mother, and the relationship you have with everybody else.
I don't care if he's a millionaire or he only has a dollar to his name, we ain't trying to have a prolonged conversation about our money (how much we make, how much we got, who we owe, etc). Either I got it or I don't, either I'm breaking you off or I'm not.
Certain disrespect you're going to have to stand on business. That goes for us and anybody else. With certain things it's not going to mean anything to me to be like "oh it was in the heat of the moment and I just got upset" naaaah bruh I heard what you said. Same applies to us...certain things we're only going to say if we really mean that shit. Because we want you to feel it.
Certain jokes only people who know me can make. If I don't know you like that, or if I don't like you like that, fuck is you laughing so hard for?
If I'm eating wings or soul food and you're either staring at me or asking me questions, my energy is going to be on ninja WHAT? WHAT DO YOU WANT? This is a moment for me and you're interrupting it.
Even if we ain't street ninjas, we still (mostly) abide by the code of no-snitching. Mind ya business.
After high school, we mostly avoid ninjas who play too much. No disrespect, just staying out the way.
Most of us are more introverted than we seem. If we're laughing and cracking jokes, that's because we trying to make the best of the situation. But in reality, most of us would rather be off in the cut doing our thing.
