Is being a gun main a good play style?

I was thinking of switching from a sword main to a gun main and was wondering if this would be a good idea. If it’s a good idea what fruit should I use? What should I focus my states into? What gun should I use? What accessories should I use? And any other tips or information you have would be helpful too.
