Caltrain crossings

So this happens all the time at the crossing on Palo Alto Ave and I’m wondering if it’s happening anywhere else along the line and whether anybody knows if Caltrain has a plan to fix it.

When the gates go down for a crossing after a station where the train is stopping. It’s not coming yet so why do the gates need to come down? And then, with the shorter amount of time at each station they go off for a few seconds and then go back down. As a pedestrian it’s super annoying. Does this annoy anyone else?

I was told last year at a public event that the signalling would be upgraded with the electrification to prevent this kind of thing. Maybe the signalling part hasn’t been done yet?

All this being said, the new trains are wonderful.
