Information on abortions

Hi there

I'm looking for information on getting an abortion at Marie Stopes, if anyone is able to help. Or if there are other options available?

My friend is not sure exactly how far along she is, most likely less than 9 weeks, but if anyone can walk me through the procedure it would be highly appreciated!

I'm not going to address those comments beyond saying that I honestly hope no one ever tries to dictate your autonomy over your own body the way you tried to do to my friend.

I'm adding this info for anyone who might need it, with permission from my friend, who might add her own edit at some point soon.

Firstly, you can go to Groote Schuur family planning, but the clinic is only open until 1pm on Fridays, and 4pm from Monday to Thursday.

We arrived too late, but managed to find a doctor in Pinelands named Dr Hadlow. I cannot recommend her enough. Kind and compassionate, explains every step of the process, and is very non-judgemental. All in all, it costs about R2600, including the consultation and the pills that you have to get at a pharmacy afterwards.

She has an ultrasound to determine how far along the pregnancy is.

If it's less than 10 weeks, you can take pills, one at her office and the second dose 24 hours later. There will be some bleeding and cramps.

She also prescribed pain medication and antibiotics in case of infection.
