Not using LinkedIn. Career suicide ?
Hey everyone,
I’ve been thinking a lot about LinkedIn and social media in general lately. I’ve personally decided not to maintain an active profile on LinkedIn or any other social media platforms for that matter. My choice is based on personal reasons but I also feel that these platforms have become so saturated and honestly quite useless for finding jobs. When using LinkedIn I just find myself doom scrolling as with other useless SOMe platforms.
In the past, I’ve used LinkedIn, with little success and have come to the conclusion that the cons outweigh the pros (at least for me).
I know LinkedIn is considered crucial in today’s job market, but I honestly don’t see the point anymore. It’s just become another noisy platform where genuine connections are rare and used more for bragging than anything else. And honestly it’s depressing me quite a lot.
What do you all think? Is it a big “no-no” to step away from LinkedIn and other social media for professional purposes? Am I committing “career suicide” here? Has anyone else had similar experiences or thoughts? Any HR-people here wiling to give their input? Also any suggestions/tips to one can “stay in the game” but out of LinkedIn?
Thanks in advance for your input!
