Advice on Mass Discovered in Lung
Hello everyone!
Wanted to reach out and just get some advice from people who have gone through this before while we are working to get more answers and get a plan for moving forward.
My wife and I adopted Squeaks a little over 5 years ago and Squeaks is really the first pet I have ever had (30M).
Really have not had any medical issues since we have gotten him and he’s been happy, snuggly and loved since we got him.
Recently I noticed that Squeaks was not eating as much but we figured part of this may be some changes like moving into a new house and getting adjusted to a new dog that joined the family this summer.
This behavior started maybe 3 weeks ago around thanksgiving time so we scheduled an appointment to have him checked out. The vet did bloodwork and we got a urine sample and the vet suggested we come in for x-rays. In the X-rays they found a small mass in Squeaks lung. Where it is it is not affecting his breathing or causing him pain but she suggested seeing an oncologist. We reached out to a few oncologists and soonest appointment we could get was 1/8 and get on waitlists in the meantime to hopefully get in sooner.
In the meantime she gave us meds to help with his appetite and those seem to help so far and he’s eating his favorite fancy feast and tuna.
We don’t have answers yet but we are just very torn on what the best path forward is based on at least what we know now. He has been good about going to the vet the past two weeks but I know typically he was so scared and stressed about going to the vet and riding in the car. I want to make sure he is happy and that he knows he is loved i just don’t know how to do that and what that looks like and would love some advice on what we should be looking for, looking into and how to best advocate for him. The last two days have been really tough and I know there are more tough days ahead, I just want to do what’s best for him and being my first pet just don’t know what will help make that decision. Thanks in advance, apologies if getting too into the weeds/emotional about this.
