Cannot Get Pontiff Knight Scythe

So i decided to go for a dex build and found out that this scythe has some of the best dex scaling on this game. So i warp to Pontiff Sulyvahn bonfire and start killing the dude in front of the church because apparently he is the only one that drops it.Only problem is that ive already spent an hour and starting to think that this is somehow connected to the progress because ive already beaten the game and decided to get it before i start ng plus. Pls help i already got the full armor set twice but no damn scythe. If you had this problem or am i just really unlucky, please i need some advice. Thanks.
