Loyalty > Honesty

Mormons must pass through interviews to affirm that they are ‘honest in their dealings with their fellow men’ to get to the temple. Yet, when you get to the temple: obedience, sacrifice, chastity and loyalty to the church (consecration) are the highest held values of the church, with the strict charge to keep the secrets of the temple. This loop hole allows member to lie so long as it in defense of the church. This is probably why honest people get excommunicated for highlighting what the church really believes. They are expecting you to sacrifice honesty for loyalty. Your reputation, your virtue, as a sacrifice to protect the church. It’s repugnant. This thought came on the heals of RFM’s episode: the church makes liars of us all.
