Messenger chat not showing up in recent chats unless searching their name

Restricted/blocked someone then undid it all and now their chat does not show unless I search their name in messenger, and notifications read as “someone sent you a message”. Neither of us are blocked or restricted, etc.

Googled it and it doesn’t seem like anybody’s had this issue specifically, or at least found a fix… any ideas?
