Full time converted to Part Time Employer

Does anybody have any experience of being converted from Full time to Part Time? If so what is this process like? Also, what is it like from a supervisory and HR point of view?

I’m a Disabled vet and have been at my agency for 3 years. I like my job but I’m looking to get hours reduced to 32 hrs a week to spend more time with husband and 2 very young kids, also for appointments,etc. I am a very hard worker and get my stuff done. My job can definitely be accomplished in 32 hrs.

I’m aware of pay and benefits being affected, not really concerned.

Note: Please save the “Lazy federal worker” bs. There is absolutely nothing wrong with working less hours (For less money) to spend time with family and take care of other personal needs.
