Young liberal family moving to GR

I was wondering if there was a community for a young, more liberal family in Grand Rapids. We have two kids in early grade school. We’re big on community, like play groups, good parks, outdoor activities, farmers markets, libraries, and project-based and play-based schools. I guess you could say we’re looking for “hippy schools.” We love to support local businesses and are pretty anti-corporate. Just wondering if there’s an area or neighborhood that we would fit well into.
