UPDATE for gridfi.cc - a Gridfinity configurator!

3 months ago we introduced a new web-app: gridfi.cc | Gridfinity Configurator & Parts

We kindly asked for and received your feedback!
(Original Post: Introducing gridfi.cc - a new Gridfinity configurator! : r/gridfinity)

Since the site has been linked in this subreddit a few times in the past few weeks, we wanted to give you an official update.

Since our initial post, we have implemented most suggestions, notably:

  • Configurator can be opened without an account
  • Original sources are accessible without an account (either from the parts browser, or the Configurator itself)
  • If available, the licence for each part is visible on the part page
  • Implemented Google Login
  • Auto-Generated Segmented bins (up to 10x10 Gridfinity Units)
  • Improved the performance of the renderer with auto level-of-detail selection, also eliminating the need for force rerender
  • Auto-Fill for empty spaces

While we are still focused on offering a print-on-demand service for users in Europe, we want to make the configurator useful for everyone.

The quick file service from our servers can be accessed for free with the code "GFS100", including the files for the auto-fit frame and auto-generated segmented bins, which were created by modifying one of the early OpenSCAD scripts (GitHub - vector76/gridfinity_openscad).

We will keep it free until we figure out a sustainable way to monetize the time-savings we hope to offer.

Again, we would love to hear the feedback from the community!

Which features would you like to see implemented?
