Can I use diapers for short periods?

So I know it’s generally not a good idea to put Guinea pigs in diapers being as they need to have access to their poop and it can build up and just be super gross and everything, but when we let them out of the cage to run around the apartment we really don’t want to have to clean up poop and pee that we may or may not see every five steps, especially being as our apartment is mainly carpet. Right now our solution is to just lay down a couple blankets in our kitchen floor and not let them go off of it and then mop the area and wash the blankets. We really want them to explore more though and run around more so would it be alright if they wore a diaper for maybe like max 30 minutes a day? Just for their floor time?
