I have an important question

please i have a very very important question about harry potter that i really don't understand in the before last part where harry ron and hermine start destroying the horcruxes, they had to hang the locket horcrux around their neck why couldn't they just put it in a bag or something really i don't understand it at all can someone please explain it to me🙏🙏
