Was heavy bleeding the main reason any of you went through with it?

That is my main problem. I have fibroids and since mid-January have had heavy bleeding that is impacting my life. I can control it with TXA but that can only be used once a month. So, for instance, right now I'm experiencing heavy bleeding again but cannot take that yet. I have experienced anemia due to this, and take iron daily. I have never had a surgery and am very scared to. However, I know I cannot live like this indefinitely. I am 48 and has been hoping for menopause to kick in and bring this to an end. But my doctor said there is no way to know when menopause will happen for me.

I have not had heavy bleeding every day during this 2-month stretch; I have had it on quite a few days, mixed with many days of spotting, but only a few (perhaps 5 of so) of no bleeding whatsoever from mid-Jan to mid-March.

My challenge is that I am aware surgery comes with risks and a long recovery time. I am having trouble determining when my situation is bad enough to warrant surgery and all the pain and difficulty that will come with it. Just curious how any others came to their decision.
