Let’s Talk About inZOI: My Take on Some Common Critiques
Hey everyone! As the Early Access release date for inZOI approaches, I wanted to share my thoughts on some of the biggest critiques surrounding the game and see if anyone shares similar perspectives—or has completely different ones. I’d love to hear your input on how you feel about these topics!
1. Critique: AI Integration
A lot of people seem upset about inZOI’s use of AI, but to be honest, I don’t fully understand the hate surrounding it. AI can be an amazing tool—it has the power to streamline processes that would’ve taken far longer. And if you’re not a fan of AI, it’s not like the game forces you to use it; it’s completely optional. I just feel like, we’re living in 2025, where AI is becoming more integrated into life whether we like it or not. To me, it's exciting to see how it can enhance creativity and gameplay rather than being something to fear.
2. Critique: Denuvo
I’ll admit, I wasn’t fully familiar with Denuvo until recently. As much as I game, it had never been an issue for me personally. But with the uproar around inZOI possibly using Denuvo after release and me looking into it, I can understand the criticism—especially with developers not being transparent about it. I’m still neutral on this topic, however. While I don’t personally feel Denuvo would ruin the experience, I do get how it could be annoying for some, especially if it impacts performance or accessibility. Transparency from the developers would go a long way here.
3. Critique: LGBTQ+ Inclusiveness
There’s been conflicting information about how inclusive inZOI will be, and from what I’ve seen, it does seem somewhat lacking in this area—not just in terms of LGBTQ+ romance, but even straight romance. While I understand that South Korea, where the developers are based, is more conservative in its views, I believe inclusivity matters—especially given the game is being marketed to both Simmers and life-simulator players. Considering the developer’s history within the Sims community, it’s clear LGBTQ+ representation is important to players, and he is undoubtedly aware of that. This could be a fantastic opportunity for inZOI to embrace inclusivity and forge deeper connections with a global audience. This also ties into my next critique regarding the Sims.
4. Critique: Will inZOI “Destroy” the Sims?
This one feels dramatic to me. Yes, EA has made some questionable decisions with Sims 4, and the game has had its fair share of bugs and unaddressed player concerns. But the Sims franchise still has a lot of quality-of-life features developed over the years that inZOI doesn’t yet have (obviously). While inZOI is shiny and new, it’s also just starting out. I don’t believe it will obliterate the Sims—at least not right away. That said, I think it has the potential to be a strong competitor, especially as it evolves during Early Access.
I’d love to hear your thoughts! Do you agree with some of these points, or do you see things differently? Feel free to share—we’re all excited (or maybe a little nervous) as the release day gets closer! Personally, I’m still planning to get the game upon release. Just remember, the game is still in early access, so we can expect them to address and fix some concerns along the way.
EDIT: It seems Kjun listened to the community, and Denuvo will no longer be used in the game. Talk about prioritizing your players and truly listening to feedback!
