My take on the what are they going to do mentality.

What are they going to do fire me …… yes , yes they will then you will be out of a job sooner. Unless you have another job lined up ( which if you do you should jump ship immediately ) or you don’t need the job, you shouldn’t be trying to get fired.

If you don’t need the income by all means but if you do having steady income while you look for a new job is not a bad situation it’s far from the best situation but it’s better than not having anything at all.
