Need help to decide.

Hi, I am 31 years old and moved to United States 3 months back. I am an Fund Accountant and live in Bay Area. I make 120,000 annually plus performance bonus. I have always had a fascination for programming and I taught myself Python and Javascript during Covid lockdowns. However since I always have been an accountant I am afraid to take the leap to programming. I am pretty good at accounting and make a decent salary. However, i noticed that most of the accounting salary is between 60,000 to 150,000 so there is not much room for growth. But the thing is the tech jobs I see on LinkedIn pay around the same. If that is the case then I wouldn’t want to change my profession to start something for which I would be paid less and have a lot to learn. What do you guys think? Are programmers really paid so much (i hear figures like 500,000 and bonus) or is it just 5,10% of them? Can I really get into programming without any college degrees and a couple of Coursera certifications?
