Since September I have applied for over 1200 jobs. I’ve only gotten 7 interviews from it and 1 job offer. I feel like I’m going crazy..

I just came off of maternity leave. I have a 4 month old that I can’t put in daycare due to health reasons and so I had to quit my job to take care of her because we don’t have family up here to help out.

Most of them are WFH positions so I knew that it was going to take time and just keep applying but I’ve had hundreds of rejections of either “you’re too qualified for this position” or “you do not meet all the qualifications for the position”.

I have 2 different resumes that I cycle between. One for my management experience and one that downplays everything to lower positions so I can at least find a part time job for the weekend.

I got rejected from Wendy’s last week because I seemed overqualified in the interview and I didn’t even use a resume to apply. Target said they don’t need anyone else but still have signs up everywhere that they need help and the last time I went in there to get something I heard some employees complaining about being shorthanded.

I’ve been in management almost my entire career. From insurance office managers to retail store/area managers to corporate trainer back to healthcare management. Some of those roles were hybrid positions so I have the experience of WFH.

The one job offer ended up being for $15/hr when the position I applied to was supposed to be for $24/hr. So I reported the job on indeed for false advertising. 🫠

Is it hard for everyone right now or am I just unlucky?
