Why does society hate minimalists / different people?

My friend is a minimalist. He has an average job and a house he inherited from his parents. He says his job is amazing and doesn't stress him. He doesn't want to get married because he hates the responsibility of having a family and he'll have to work his heart out to provide for them, he likes his motorcycle and doesn't want to get a car cz it consumes gas and is a burden in traffic. He is grateful to what he has and is happy about it and doesn't want to make his life any different. He is even at peace with the idea of death and wants to "go with the first heart attack" as he puts it (not wanting any medical care whatsoever). However he is sad because society keeps wanting him to change (family-neighbors) they want him to socialize more and stuff (he has a few friends including me) and they are even hammering him with masked insults (AKA latshe in Lebanese). What can this man do to end his pain? What advice can I give him?
