Has anybody thought of a "reverse coilhead" (DON'T look at it, or it kills you)?
Spoiler tag because I refer to other mob mechanics below.
I watched a stream of a really creepy game where the monster follows you home, and it tries to get you to look at it while you're just a kid home alone trying to make dinner and pretend you're not nervous watching TV. It tries to get your attention by changing where it is, especially when you round corners. Basically the opposite of shyness, and you need to not look at it directly to survive.
(SPOILER) I know the bracken will become angry the longer you look at it, but the player is not necessarily trying to avoid looking at it. In fact usually quite the opposite, and the bracken is inherently shy and patient.
(SPOILER 2) I also know that the ghost girl will not kill you until you look at her, but she kind of goes in and out, right? To be honest I haven't dealt with her much.
I'm talking about a reverse coilhead. Something that will not harm you if you don't look at it, but it keeps moving to try to get you to look. It could make horrible noises, or footsteps or breathing to let you know it's close. It could be hideous.
I see that it'd be really annoying if it's too active. There could be some way to make it fairer to deal with. I just like the image of a player being forced to skulk ass first, backwards through a room, to walk past and "ignore" a horrible entity lonely and desperate for attention. It could pick up dropped walkie talkies and try to talk to you if you're the only other one alive maybe? Idk
