finding out about the community
I grew up in a very religious household and didn't even know about the lgbtqia+ community until about middle school. One of my friends was queer and talked about the community. In highschool, the same friend invited me to the GSA club, and this whole time I still identified as straight. Plot twist: a couple years later I discover I'm a lesbian. Even with all these states banning LGBTQ in schools, we will always be there. I never even knew about this during my childhood, yet i'm stil gay. People who say gay parents will have gay kids forget that most people from the Lgbtqia+ community have straight parents. Stay strong during this time!
