Thinking of cutting off

I’ve had my locs for a year now and I just really cannot maintain them. Where I live right now nobody knows how to retwist and if they do they charge upwards of 100 dollars. I’m on the spectrum too and it takes me a lot longer to retwist and I have never found the patience to do it myself. I want to cut them off. I have seen people use real hair as extensions and i was thinking I could maybe cut it off then save them for when I actually can have locs, which might be about a year from now when I move away for college to a place with more black ppl. Does my hair look healthy enough to keep? How should I go about cutting them? Any tips? Thank you.
