Need Advice: How to avoid relapsing into overeating behaviors? (context below)
Age 30 [M], BMI higher than reccomended for my build.
History: A history of emotional eating, being overweight. I use any emotioanlly charged event (happy and sad) to justify overeating.
What I am doing: Caloric Deficit + Medium Intensity cardio (3 times a week - 1 hour each) | It isn't high-intensity workouts because I want to be able to sustain regular exercising.
The problem: I am great at drafting up meals for myself, and I stick to them rather easily but only for a few days (a week or maybe two maximum)
I see changes in my body. All the bloat wears off, my jaw starts seeming 10% more defined. And I am happy with the results. I'm still overweight, but the bloat is gone. I am going to the gym, I am eating well (with caloric limitations).
But: One day I end up overeating again. And once that is done, I have around one week or two of me going back to normal eating, and then another week of over-eating and eating unhealthy, until I decide to pull myself together again.
I am kind of tired of this loop, and need some advice on how to not relapse as much. I understand that it is part of the process, but I really would like the frequencies to go down, because the 3 weeks of not doing good negates the 2 weeks of going well.
What I am looking for: Advice on how to keep myself motivated to stay on track.
What i am not looking for: exercise recommendations or diet recommendations. I know what I have to eat and what kind of exercise I need. I've already had paid professionals tell me those things :)
TLDR: I know what I need to do, but I keep relapsing. Need advice on how to stay on the ball longer between relapses.
Thanks!
