Probably my favorite find ever, found this week.

I live in Northern Utah, and earlier this week I decided to walk around the neighborhood and detect the sidewalk strips, I got two houses away from my own house and started swinging and got a strong signal almost immediately. I dug a couple inches down and up popped something incredible.

After some research, I discovered it is an 1913 silver Franz Joseph 1 Austrian corona/krone made into a pendant with an soldered silver border. Found in a sidewalk strip 2 houses away from me. From what I read, coins with friends, Joseph were turned into pendants or medallions to show patriotism to the former empire and monarchy of Austro-Hungaria

Franz Joseph I learned. Had a very illustrious reign and tragic life. This coin was minted 3 years prior to his death in his mid-80s. He was regarded the last Emperor of Austria and also the king of Hungary (his great nephew took the throne for 2 years and then was forced to renounce his reign and dismantle the monarchy and forced into exile)

Franz Joseph's brother was the Emperor of Mexico before being assassinated. His nephew, Franz Ferdinand was assassinated. His only son died in a suicide pact with his mistress. And his wife was assassinated by an Italian anarchist.
