How would you describe Missouri?

Hi, I'm considering moving to either Taney County, Greene County, Jefferson County.

I still have more research to do but I am loving everything I’m seeing. I love the music scene out in St Louis and how underrated Kansas City is!!!

I adore Springfield and Branson especially that you guys have Silver Dollar City and the Ozarks!

How’s the job market out there? Economy?
Affordability? Any local spots you can recommend? Quality of life? Cost of Living?

UPDATE: Howdy! Thank you for your responses! I am taking every comment in consideration. I appreciate your concerns but racism is nothing new to me and is something I have experienced even out in NYC, I don’t let it stop me from living life the way I want to. I’m not comfortable addressing my political views on a public forum but I would do fine in Missouri!

I’m 23 M, I’m mixed (white and hispanic), I lived in very conservative places before both city and rural (NJ, FL) and spent parts of my childhood in Texas. I will respond to every comment I can.

UPDATE #2: Hi everyone, I have seen all your comments both good and bad and I decided that I'm visiting Missorui before I decide moving there! I think that if all goes well, I'm going to be living there. Y'all are very kind and gave me a good and realistic outlook of what its like over there!

I appriecate the honesty and care put into every response. I'm not sure if some of your experiences as unfortunate as they are, would be mine.

I didn't think politics is a huge deal so despite how I feel, I would classify myself as a moderate. I have conservative and democratic views. But I would say I lean more conservative respectfully while keeping an open mind.

I don't want to live too close to the city but I don't wanna live super far (1-3 hours distance)
